Masqurin - Tactics

General Tactics

Masqurin, like your average magician, has strong magical powers but is awful in a hand-to-hand combat situation - a combination of low HP and low defence sees to this. Keep her away from the front lines and try building up a friendship with Obright or Horst in order to boost her defence. Luckily, Masqurin's magic power makes up for her lack of physical strength and she is easily the best magician in scenario 1, keep her at distance from the enemy and blast them with magic, always use up every last drop of MP in each battle as magic generally gives more experience than a physical attack.

Magic and Magic Resistance

Masqurin starts the game kitted out with Blaze magic, later learning Spark and Attack. Blaze is a very useful spell as it provides Masqurin with cheap magic of intermediate power, however, because Masqurin is proficient with fire magic at levels 3 and 4 it does some serious damage! Spark is one of the most powerful attack spells in the game but comes at a price, Spark level 3 is the best spell to cast on large groups of enemies but ignore Spark level 4 completely and cast Blaze level 4 if you only want to attack a single enemy. Attack is a quite useful spell, but only at level 2 as that is when it can affect multiple allies, cast it on your stronger characters before a skirmish then back them up with Masqurin's attack magic.

As a wizardry type, Masqurin is - not surprisingly - very resistant to magical attacks, especially those of the fire element.

Weapons and Equipment

Rods are my personal favourite weapons to equip Masqurin with because by the end of the game I prefer to kit her out with the Tiamat Rod, not because of the Tiamat spell but because of the extremely useful statistic bonus' it gives.

For accessories, Masqurin benefits well from an Artemis Pin while carrying a Magic Ring or two (to benefit from its MP restore ability). The Steel Tiara is also a great accessory for female magic-users but I prefer to save it for Grace.
